The new 84,000 square foot Santa Clara Central Park Library (with an additional 56,000 square feet of building basement parking) is one of the most technologically-advanced libraries in California, employing systems such as radio frequency identification, automated rough-sorting, and self check-out technologies to greatly enhance staff efficiency. Every carrel and table provides data and power connections for patrons who bring their own laptop computers.
Along with a variety of "green" strategies designed to enhance the sustainability of the facility is a comprehensive daylight harvesting system with integrated photosensitive controls that continuously monitor interior light levels and automatically dim electric lighting equipment in daylit areas. O'Mahony & Myer provided all interior and exterior electrical engineering and lighting design services for this magnificent new library.
