Folsom Public Library
Location: Folsom, CA
Architects: BSA Architects
Photography: Tom Rider
Folsom's new 24,000 square foot main library is located within the existing Civic Center and City park. Continuing the park-land theme, Library patrons are welcomed to the building through an exterior glowing rotunda into an interior ring that links the library functions with community meeting rooms and a café. The Library features an indoor/outdoor reading terrace, an adult wing with a technology center, and a children's wing with a storytelling room. The clean lighting palette reinforces the function of the various spaces without becoming imposing on the user. Lighting and shade controls provide the Library staff with the unparalleled ability to customize the mood and function of separate spaces within the Library to fit the needs of the moment.
O'Mahony & Myer provided comprehensive electrical engineering and Peters & Myer, the lighting design studio of O'Mahony & Myer, designed the lighting for this state-of-the-art modern public library.
