Originally built in 1922 as the Napa Union High School, the Napa Valley Unified School District Education Center (known also as the Napa Ed Center) stands proudly once again on its prominent corner just outside downtown Napa, California. Gutted by fire in 1937 and then rocked by a strong earthquake in 2000, the building has now been restored to its original splendor. In 2001, O'Mahony & Myer was commissioned to provide the electrical engineering for this 62,000 square foot building renovation and restoration project. At the same time, Peters & Myer, the lighting design studio of O'Mahony & Myer, was commissioned to design both the interior lighting and exterior facade lighting.

The District's overall goal with the multi-million dollar reconstruction project was to help revitalize the area and restore the stature of this historic and picturesque building, in addition to providing state-of-the-art offices for district personnel and theatrical space for the district's surrounding high schools. Major seismic upgrades following the earthquake were needed, and the District took the opportunity to do a thorough and exhaustive renovation and restoration of the entire building, including classrooms, administrative offices, District board room and Theater.
