As part of a total restoration and renovation of this classic 1922 building, O'Mahony & Myer was commissioned to provide the electrical engineering, and Peters & Myer, the lighting design studio of O'Mahony & Myer, was commissioned to design the lighting, including the stage and flyloft for the 680-seat Performing Arts Theater.
One of the School District's goals with this multi-million dollar reconstruction project was to provide theatrical space for the district's surrounding high schools. In fact, the newly renovated and refurbished Performing Arts Theater is the crown jewel of the building.
The challenge here was to "recreate" the 1920's look of the Theater while bringing the lighting, acoustics, theatrical, and audio/visual systems into the 21st century. The Theater is equipped with a full theatrical lighting and dimming system. The "house" lights are also on the theatrical system so transitions between house and theatrical scenes are seamless. Equipped with a full theatrical fly loft, the Theater is now used by all of the surrounding district high schools for their various theatrical arts and music programs.
