Located within Rengstorff Park, the Mountain View Senior Center is designed on a residential scale with the comforts of its user group in mind. The architecture is enriched by craftsman details that underscore its Bay Area location. The 25,000 square foot facility includes a gracious lounge, multiple classrooms, a technology center, offices, banquet facilities, a full kitchen, and a workout room. The building also serves as an emergency shelter for the surrounding neighborhoods. To ensure that the building can be provided with power during an emergency, the design included a diesel-powered, emergency generator together with an extensive emergency distribution system. The building includes the latest technology in energy-efficient interior lighting and low voltage lighting control systems.
