The Mountain View Civic Center complex is structured around a series of open public spaces that link the City's business district with historic Pioneer Park. Organized on a diagonal axis, the new complex begins with a large plaza that opens at the corner onto the main street. Rising beyond the plaza are two octagonal towers that house the entrances to the City Hall and the Community Theater. These two buildings form a gateway to the complex and a landmark for the town's skyline. Richard Peters, co-founder of Peters & Myer, the Lighting Design Studio of O'Mahony & Myer, was commissioned to light the plaza and both the City Hall and Theater.
