The new Kenilworth Junior High School Campus was designed as a California High Performance School, following the exacting guidelines of the CHPS program. O'Mahony & Myer provided full electrical engineering and lighting design services for the project, which included academic classrooms, classroom science laboratories, administration offices, campus health care facilities, full-size gymnasium and a separate, large multi-use room.
Our work included design of a 100KW solar photovoltaic electric system, classroom daylight harvesting systems, campus lighting control system, campus video system, and a full campus security system. We worked closely with the design team to keep energy usage to absolute minimums, using high efficiency lighting systems and controls coordinated with daylight harvesting opportunities. Special mechanical controls also provide the users with a more flexible, yet controlled, system to provide passive ventilation and environmental control.
