Shell Office Building

Location: San Francisco, CA
Architect: Heller & Leake Architects

O'Mahony & Myer was commissioned to design dramatic floodlighting of the exterior of this landmark 1929 art-deco office building in the heart of downtown San Francisco. The project also involved the complete renovation of the ground floor entry lobby and all of the elevator lobbies throughout the building. As part of the building upgrade, all new building electrical distribution systems and automated indoor/outdoor lighting control systems were designed by our firm. The original main lobby chandelier was completely redesigned to incorporate new uplighting components to accent the original domed plaster ceiling, which was raised fifteen feet. The existing elevator lobby fixtures were also refurbished and redesigned, and new custom designed elevator car light fixtures were developed, incorporating the original art-deco building theme and new energy-efficient lamp sources.
