The ambitious 76,000 square foot Robert Livermore Community Recreation Center is an extensive and important community resource. The Center includes a senior center, a community center with a divisible multi-purpose room and administrative offices for district staff. There is also a recreation center with large gymnasium; an aquatics center, with two separate pools - one for recreation, one for competition - and administration offices, an aerobics/dance studio, teen center, childcare facilities, and a cafe. All of which provides the facility with multiple diverse areas, spaces and functions.

To bring cohesion to the varied spaces and functions, a "family of fixtures" was developed for all interior and exterior areas. Using readily available and inexpensive fixtures, along with custom, perforated sheet metal, acrylic-lined shrouds to mount over otherwise standard indoor and outdoor pendant and sconce fixtures, our lighting design studio created a custom, decorative family look at modest, standard fixture pricing. The result is an inexpensive and easy to maintain lighting system that brings visual organization and continuity to the expansive facility.
